A big thank you to all who entered The Candy Perfume Boy’s Gaga Giveaway, it seems that my little bag of Gaga Swag has got many of you monsters very excited indeed. I thought you all came up with very interesting ideas for how Fame should have smelled and it was quite telling that most people would have changed it, which says to me that, whilst Fame may be a hit commercially it really isn’t representative of Gaga herself.

I personally loved Kady’s suggestion that it should have smelled “strongly of leather, rubber and cheap vanilla, with hints of raw red meat, cumin, salt, vodka, fur, cedar and cola. All with an overlay of that old fashioned face powder scent – very powdery violet, rose and talk” Now that would make one hell of a perfume and would certainly be more Gaga than Fame!

Following yesterday’s review of Lady Gaga’s debut fragrance Fame I thought I would continue the Gaga theme and appeal to everyone’s inner little monster by offering a giveaway.

As a thank you for pre-ordering Fame, The Perfume Shop sent me some Lady Gaga swag, namely; a veil, some Gaga tattoos and two sets of Fame bottle-esque acrylic nails. Now I have mentioned before that I may like to smell like a hooker on the odd occasion but I draw the line at looking like one, so I thought I would pass my Bag O’ Gaga Swag on to one lucky winner. I’ll even throw in a 2.5ml spray sample of fame because I’m nice/evil like that (it depends on what you think of Fame).

Happy Birthday to The Candy Perfume Boy! – One Year Anniversary Giveaway

Happy Birthday!

I can hardly believe it but today marks the first birthday of The Candy Perfume Boy! It only seems like yesterday that I was tentatively tapping away at my keyboard to write my first full-length review, an apt choice of Guerlain’s Shalimar Parfum Initial for my inaugural post I feel, and now here I am 365 days later with a blog that turned out to be one thousand times better than I ever thought it would be.

Over this last year I have been overwhelmed by the response the blog has received, in that time I’ve received over 180,000 hits, published 194 posts and obtained 3,859 comments! But more importantly than all of the stats and numbers is the friendships and interactions I have developed with my readers in that time, you are priceless and this space would not be the same without you, yes that’s right, you!

So in order show my appreciation I thought I would celebrate with a little giveaway. The prize is a collection of decants from my personal stash and includes my favourite perfume discoveries from the last year. These fragrances have been those that have impressed me the most since starting this blog and I wanted to give you the chance to try some of my “big loves”, I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

We interrupt our usual programming for a brief post that may involve a small degree of shameless self promotion. Both Persolaise (@persolaise) and I (@Candyperfumeb0y) are approaching the 1,000 follower mark on Twitter and when we do hit the landmark 1K we thought we would have a little fun and host a giveaway.

The very generous people at Penhaligon’s (holla) have kindly agreed to support our Twitter campaign and have donated a 50ml of last year’s super awesome and super-gin-like Juniper Sling. If you would like a chance to win the aforementioned bottle of gin-inspired scent then, and this is where the shameless self promotion comes in, you just need to start spreading the word and persuade as many people to follow us as possible.

We’re celebrating over here at Candy Perfume Towers, well I say ‘we’ but it’s mainly just me. Well me and Paddington, but he pretty much celebrates all the time. The reason I’m celebrating is because this is The Candy Perfume Boy’s 100th post, and what better way to celebrate than with a little giveaway?

But, before I get into the details of the giveaway I would like to say massive thank you to everybody who has read, commented on and supported this blog over the last 6 months!
