Christmas Crush is where I celebrate the scented things that would make lovely gifts for the festive period!

A few weeks back I kicked off my Christmas Crush gift guides with a beautiful candle from Acqua di Parma and now, I’m continuing with yet another festive home fragrance, this time from Goutal Paris. Let’s be real, the annual Goutal Christmas candle is somewhat of an event, with a gorgeous new design launched every year. 2020 does not disappoint – well, 2020 as a year most definitely disappoints, but the 2020 Une Forêt d’Or Scented Candle does not.

I know what you’re thinking, I’ve already featured a Christmas candle in the form of Acqua di Parma’s Notte di Stelle, why do I need to do another? Well, they’re both so different for a start. Where the Acqua di Parma is all Christmas trees dusted in sugar, this one from Goutal is evocative of a Scandinavian forest, more specifically the moment one walks out of the forest and into their home, returning to the warmth.

Une Forêt d’Or is fresh and cold, with notes of pine branches and orange peel. To me it feels more typically festive, and it has a really distinct presence, both in cold and hot throw. I love a candle with a ‘winter wonderland’ feel and this one certainly delivers on that front. It is cool, airy and full of fresh pine needles. What could be more festive?

Finally, let’s talk design because, if like me, you think a scented candle is much an objet d’art as much a functional fragranced product, you’ll be pleased with the look of this one. Une Forêt d’Or is dressed in red, with a gorgeous illustration inspired by The Legend of the Snow Butterflies. I think it would look perfect as the centrepiece to any Christmas table.

Now, the key question is who would this make a good gift for? Well, I think anyone who loves a scented candle would be very happy with this, or alternatively, it would make a great gift for you (and your family) to add an extra layer of ‘xmas’ to the festive season this year!
