Christmas Crush: Nº5 Red Edition by CHANEL

Tis the season to be jolly, almost, which means one thing and one thing only: Candy Crush becomes Christmas Crush as I share a few of my favourite gift ideas for the upcoming holidays. These are the fragrant things I’d like to find under my tree this year and perhaps, you would too!

Red is the colour of passion, danger, and blood.
The colour of lipstick, anger, and roses.

But now, this Christmas, red is the colour of CHANEL Nº5. Now, I don’t know about you but when I think of the iconic Nº5 my mind instantly moves straight towards the colour gold. Perhaps it’s the amber-coloured juice, or maybe it’s just the olfactory sparkle of the fragrance, but Nº5, to me at least, has always smelled of shimmering flecks of gold. But Nº5 and the colour red red actually have a bit of a history, and more than just a touch of chemistry…

Think about the iconic Nº5 adverts and you will see red, literally. The red carpet walked by Nicole Kidman, the red hood of Little Red Riding Hood, the red couture gown worn by Gisele Bündchen, and the red suit worn by Carole Bouquet. Red is a constant theme in the visual history of Nº5 and now, CHANEL is bringing this bold, dangerous and vibrant colour front and centre to the most visual element of Nº5 there is: the bottle.

For Christmas this year, CHANEL has produced, for the very first time, an alternative version to Nº5’s clear flacon, presenting it in a deep cloak of crimson. These mass-dyed red bottles are limited editions available in Nº5 Eau de Parfum and Nº5 L’EAU Eau de Toilette. 55 numbered red Baccarat crystal bottles in a 900ml size are also available and I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anything more in my life – so much so, I’m thinking of starting a gofundme. Your donations can change a life today.

These bottles are beautiful. There’s not really much more to say than this. Every year CHANEL brings us a wonderful Nº5 product in limited edition. Last year it was Nº5 Fragments d’Or, the glittering body gel, and the year before that it was Nº5 The Body Oil. This year, though, this, year, CHANEL have outdone themselves with the most stunning edition of Nº5 yet: Nº5 in red. Bravo, CHANEL, and if you don’t sell all of those red 900ml bottles of Parfum, I will reluctantly take one off your hands. I’m super helpful lee that.

So in summary, if you have a Nº5-lover in your life (whether they lean towards the Eau de Parfum or L’EAU, or like me – both) and you don’t buy them this for Christmas, then all you can expect in your stocking is a lump of coal. It’s what you deserve, quite frankly…
