Show us your #Smellfie!

To celebrate National Fragrance Day today, The Perfume Society is encouraging perfume lovers across the land to share a selfie with a fragrance – something that they call a ‘smellfie’. Now in its fourth year, the idea of the smellfie is simple: one takes a snap of themselves with a fragrance, whether that be a favourite or simply the scent one happens to be wearing, and share it on social media. Easy, right? Other than the fact that we all adore a selfie, there’s also further incentive to share your smellfie in the form of a competition. To enter, you just need to do the following:

On instagram – use the hashtag ‘#smellfie’ and mention @theperfumesociety
On Twitter – use the hashtag ‘#smellfie’ and tag @perfume_society along side your photo

The Perfume Society will then have a big old nose at all of the smellfies and pick their top five favourites. Each of the top five will win a signed copy of The Perfume Bible, the ultimate guide to the world of fragrance written by The Perfume Society founders Josephine Fairley and Lorna McKay. That’s not it though, because the top smellfie winner will also receive six printed editions of The Perfume Society’s Scented Letter magazine. So get snapping!

For my smellfie I chose to take a picture with two of my staple fragrances – two of my old faithfuls, if you will. They are Infusion d’Iris and Infusion d’Iris Cédre by Prada. For me, these two fragrances represent the DNA of the Prada brand with fizzy, cooling iris used in incredibly diffusive and modern ways. Infusion d’Iris is like slipping on a pair of gloves in the finest of suedes and Infusion d’Iris Cédre is the most unusual and rare thing: a bubbly aldehydic floral for men. Sublime smellfie material, I’m sure we can all agree.
