I’m always crushing on something scented or other. My nose knows no limits. Candy Crush is where I showcase the beautifully scented things I’m crushing on right now so you can hopefully develop a crush too.
So these CHANEL Candy Crushes are becoming somewhat of a habit. Don’t blame me though, blame CHANEL – it’s them who keep releasing beautifully scented ancillary products based on some of their most iconic fragrances – I’m just a boy with a greedy nose who cannot resist their charms. What’s more, these two latest gems from CHANEL are scented with Nº5 L’EAU, which consequently is one of my favourite CHANEL fragrances, so I really couldn’t resist. You can’t keep doing this to me CHANEL. Who am I kidding – I’m not ready to quit the brand – keep ’em coming!
Nº5 L’EAU stands out because it manages to strike the perfect balance between the classic and the modern. It takes the inimitable structure of the most iconic fragrance in the world and creates a new, very current twist on it whilst remaining faithful to all that makes Nº5 good and great. To celebrate the popularity of Nº5 L’EAU, CHANEL has launched two new ‘essentials’ to the collection – an enveloping ALL-OVER BODY SPRAY and a tactile ON HAND CREAM. I am obsessed with both.
Nº5 L’EAU ALL-OVER SPRAY
The purpose of the ALL-OVER SPRAY is to present a lighter version of Nº5 L’EAU to spritz generously all over the body and in the hair. Boasting a lower concentration of alcohol than the Eau de Toilette, the Nº5 L’EAU ALL-OVER SPRAY plays up the freshest facets of L’EAU, amping up the fizzy citrus and light, breezy florals. It feels airier than the already beautifully airy EDT, with a truly silky and diffusive texture, adding extra lift to the fragrance. Perfect for wearing solo or with the EDT (I personally like to layer on top the EDT because I adore VOLUME), the Nº5 L’EAU ALL-OVER BODY SPRAY is the perfect thing for summer – it’s generously scented but light and sparkly enough not to intrude as the mercury rises. I’ve found it great to spray on clothes to keep them smelling SUPER fresh and UTTERLY CHANEL.
Nº5 L’EAU ON HAND CREAM
Now you may think that this hand cream looks a little bit familiar and you would be right. Modelled on last year’s La Crème Main (which I ADORED), this cream boasts the same velvety, absorbent texture but this time it is generously scented with Nº5 L’EAU. The cream itself is very light and a small amount leaves the hands feeling supple and moisturised. Personally, I like it more than La Crème Main because the scent is bolder (and Nº5 L’EAU smells like heaven, so what’s not to love) but it offers much of the same in terms of function. That said, the egg-like packaging, which very usefully allows one to squeeze out every drop whilst retaining its shape, has a beautiful matt finish in this edition and it looks so beautiful with the big, bold text, making for more of a visual impact. So it looks great, smells great and feels great. Basically I’m obsessed.
The Verdict
I’m crushing hard on both. I feel like I’ll get decent use out of both, using the ALL-OVER BODY SPRAY on days when I’m wearing Nº5 L’EAU, whilst the ON HAND CREAM is the perfect thing for everyday use, regardless of whether one is spritzing on L’EAU or not. If you’re a fan then you need to give these a go – as always, CHANEL get’s it right.
